Windows Installer can recognize the following file types:

MSI - The Microsoft Software Installer file extension and one of only
two main file types that Windows Installer can deploy;
ZAP - The extension recognised for a text-based file you create to get
legacy setup.exe based installs onto user machines. You cannot
uninstall them or have them install in the background. And they are
not self repairing.

You can publish or assign the software. In general, I would recommend
assigning.
