Hi,
I created a msi package and assigned it, added the proper groups for
security but when I login I get nothing, I then restart the system and
relogin still nothing, I leave the system logged in for 24 hours and no
software is installed, I then changed the policy to change the auditing to
check it the policy is coming down and it did but no software is being
installed, any suggestions or assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Bob Smith

Make sure that the proper group, that the user is a member of, has read
access to the sharepoint where you have the .msi package. When you configure
the sharepoint be sure to point to the "unc" as in \\shareserver\msishare
path and not local computer path. You can assign software to computers or
users. Depending on which you did either the user or computer must be within
the scope of influence of the GPO. For instance if you assigned it to
computers at an OU level, the computer account must exist in that OU path.
Also check the event viewer of the computer that the user is logged onto
where the policy is supposed to be assigned and look in Event Viewer for any
clues and run support tool gpresult on it to see what GPO's are applied to
that computer/user and the last time they were applied. Gpresult with the /v
switch will give much more detailed info. Group Policy will not work
correctly if your domain dns is not configured correctly as shown in the
link below. --- Steve

Thanks Steve,

The policy is pointing to a unc, and I have set the permissions to read and
apply, however the computer was not in the ou path, I have since corrected
this, I will check if the policy has applied in the morning. Thanks for your
help.
