Lou

i have loaded software that works fine when i am logged in
as an administrator. the program finds the network share
and works on its 0wn however when i am logged on as any
user, i get an error message saying that the program could
not find a certain file. but if i put the cd in the cdrom,
as a user the program works fine. I have tryed the
compatability, and have given permissions to the file, and
folder (full control) to everyone. i looked at the
enviroment variable path, and tried to move the file the
program has been looking for in different directories. any
suggestions would be appriciated................Thanks Lou

Lou,

Not all programs are written to work in a more secure environment as XP. The
software may (e.g.) require access to registry hives that only and admin
account is allowed to write to. Certain games are notorious for generating
such problems.

I don't have enough information to provide even and educated guess. But the
general cure for such issues is to use the RunAs feature. Create a shortcut
for your program and then check the properties. Enter an admin account
credentials and your program will run in an administrative security context.
