AS far as I can tell, this software does not work. After
running a full scan, with no spyware found, I run another
check with the program supplied by cox .net and it comes
up with spyware almost every time. What gives!

Could you give details on what the other software found.

Was it items in a quarantine folder that just needs
clearing or maybe cookies that were detected. Was it
spyware that was found?,If the scanner you ran through
cox was mcafee then its possible this has detected
viruses or worms that MS Antispy doesnt scan for

Showing what was found would make it easier to
comment, post them if you can because if MS Antispy is
failing to detect some spyware it would help the
developers if you posted what was being missed

Regards

Andy

.
make sure its spyware being detected i have been using
this beta for 4 months now and have no problems I use
spybot and lavasoft along with zone alarm and this beta
and it all works perfect and I periodically check with
online scans nothing I do not know what to tell you other
than make sure your updated

What gives is that the current version of MSAS doesn't scan
for cookies. While I have no idea what software is
supplied by cox.net, if you are finding spyware "almost
every time" you're almost definitely finding cookies. It
isn't an issue of ineffectiveness -- it's an issue of how
one defines spyware.

Yes, that is a known issue and it will be supported in beta 2, its been
requested so many times now, I think the MS AntiSpyware have gotten the
picture.

Here are the two tracking cookies that came up right
after a scan. AtlasDMT.com and Doubleclick. There are
usually at least "8" different types of spyware that come
up,but I didn't use the computer much this weekend.

You're right, they are tracking cookies, AtlasDMT.com,
Doubleclick etc.. but they still slow down your computer
and should'nt be there. The software for cox is supplied
by Authentium. Thanks

Microsoft Antispyware in the builds distributed thus far, neither scans for
nor selectively removes, any type of cookie.
