hi,

Is there any way to alter the registry so that no one
could install any software on a W2K box? even with
administrator rights.

No, local Administrator can undo whatever you did to the machine, AFAIK.
Whatever setting you set, Administrator can unset. (I should remember this
one :)

You can prevent web and driver installations, printer installations ...
some software that do not self-approve shell extensions ...

I doubt you can deny installation since there is no way to detect if an
application is about to deploy or not.
