software distribuition service 2.0

Hi guys,
I`m new to PC Banter forum and I need help please.
I`m running Windows XP and have Norton Internet Security 2006
installed.
Recently, for no apparent reason Windows started crashing randomly. On
start-up a message box would pop up stating that the system had
recovered from a serious error, send report which I did on several
occasions.
After numerous system crashes and several attempts each time of trying
to restart the system via the reset button as the system would not
start automatically, I decided to re-install Windows XP after trying
several system restore points to no avail.
At the first attempt, the system crashed but I did manage to re-install
at the second attempt.
After re-installing, a message box came up stating that new hardware
had been detected in the form of Syncro Tru Emu H20 click to install,
which I did.
All of this has not cured the problem and I have noticed that when I go
to System Restore, that automatic restore points are not being created
and neither can I create them manually, but on each date in bold since
I re-installed Windows XP ie. every day, There is a log of System
Distribuition Service 2.0 sometimes once and sometimes several entries
the same day.
What is this System Distribuition Service 2.0 and could this be the
cause of the problem?
I cannot find it on the system search at all and it`s the first time
that I have come across it.
I would be very grateful if someone out there is familiar with this
problem and can advise me what to do. Iam really lucky to have got
through writing this request without the system going down on me.

We're all familiar with your problem. You are using Norton. Get rid of it
and don't use anything Norton or McAfee as they both cause problems as
though you have a virus. Worst software out there. Usually they can't be
uninstalled normally and requires a formatting to get rid of the junk even
if things go smoothly too much gets left behind. Read user reviews before
you just accept something at face value.
