Hi,

I'd like to know what I can use to edit/create .MST files. I am using the
Client Installation Wizard to create/edit .MST files for Microsoft Office but
I have other applications that have .MSI files and I'd like to create a
transform (.MST).

For example, Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro has a MSI file and a MST file...

Is there a utility that Microsoft has to edit/create .MST files or is there
a third party app?

I know there is something called Orca and I think MS has something like
WinInstall Lite or something.

Nate,

Orca is something that you would use to change things within the .msi file.
I am not too familiar with it as I have never used it but I assume ( always
a bad thing to do ) that you could make changes within the .msi file that
would have the same effect as a .mst file.

Wininstall Lite is something that comes with WIN2000 and WIN2003 that allows
you to create an .msi file. Essentially what you do with this is do a clean
install of the client OS ( let's just use WIN2000 Professional ) and then
you take a 'before' picture. You then install all of the applications that
you want ( let's just use WinZip, QuickTime, Aladdin, Adobe Reader, Support
Tools, Mozilla FireFox, Ad-Aware and the ICA Client ). You then take an
'after' picture. The difference ( looks at certain things - Registry is one
place for certain and maybe the Program Files folder??? ) is then used to
create an .msi file that you can then use to deploy. I have used it ( about
two years ago ) but am not normally a big fan of doing something like
this....
