SOCKS Proxy over PPTP connection

Is it possible to create a proxy server that sends any connections to it
through a PPTP connection? I just had a thought. if i have a PPTP
connection and i wanted to access a server that needed that connection, i
could use a SOCKS connection to connect to a local proxy server and forward
those connections.

It seems desireable because i would not have to create a network topology to
send certain connections over the VPN, i could just use any SOCKS compatible
software to access it.

Any thoughts? Thanks,

Why do you think you would have to "create a network topology to send
certain connections over the VPN"? The topology has to come before the
VPN,..when you then have the VPN, ...just use it. Socks? a Proxy? what a
mess.

i just set up wingate on a computer on my network, connected the vpn, then
set my program to use the SOCKS client on the internal IP over the VPn and
it worked great! No mess!

But why? The very nature of VPN means you do not go through a proxy to use
it. VPN is "local", "private",...it is "logically" on the same side of the
proxy as the users,...the proxy is not "between" you are the destination
when the VPN is used as the path to "get there".
