I'm still really fuzzy on sockets and how to effectivly use them. I've
done google and such, is there any really good books someone can point me
to?

When you have the change ask it once on Crirus, he has done a lot of
investigation about sockets I thougth,

Microsoft's MSDN site has some good samples and documentation that will help
get you started. Once you get a simple application to work correctly doing
more complicated functions over sockets gets really easy.
