Hello all,

When I run backup (NTBackup or Veritas), trying to use the open file
snapshot function of xp, I have an error message in the event log : VSS -
"Snapshot service error : error during COM class creation...". And in the
log of the backup prog, I see that the snapshot function was unable to be
used.

What can prevent this service to run correctly ?

Please help !

Somethig says me thet could be related with (absent) Shadow Volume copy...

Hello,

The Snapshot service (vssvc.exe) is running correctly. It seems that the
error occurs when a programm (backup) call it...

Any other idea ?

Hi,

Can you cut & paste the whole VSS event log entry, including the event
log data?

Also, note that VSSVC depends on COM+ infrastructure. Make sure that
COM+ is installed correctly on your system.

Thanks, Adi

Hi,

I've reinstalled XP using the "repair existing install" option, and now,
everything's work perfectly again. Don't now what happened ?

Thanks to all.
