smtp will not connect

I was setting up my outlook 2003 account in conjunction with my comcast e
mail address. I followed all of the directions first given by comcast and
then by this website.
pop3 mail.comcast.net
smtp smtp.comcast.net
I then went through macafee and allowed all access to Outlook.
I can still only recieve mail but I am still unable to send e mail! I know
everyone has similar questions but can anyone help me with this specific
problem

have you checked the authentification settings?

Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Select your account and click Change, then More
Settings. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
