I have Windows 2000 Server with SP4. IIS and the SMTP service. While some
mail gets through this service a huge amounts just queue up - and I get
multiple error 4000 in the event log under smtpsvc. The error descriptions
are numerous, but a common one is "the remote server did not respond to a
connection attempt".

I have checked the validity of the distination addresses. The server in
question has full leased line internet access.

There does not seem to be much information on this problem - can anybody
shed any light on my issue

Thanks

Andrew.
