As a user of SBC/AT&T Yahoo DSL service, and a Microsoft Outlook 2007 user,
this weekend I'm traveling (away from my DSL service @ home). At a family
member's residence while traveling I utilized their COX cable service to pick
up my e-mails. Utilizing my service I did download all my messages, but
could not send/reply through COX. I had to go to a "dial-up" to accomplish
sending. I contacted by phone both COX & SBC/AT&T and they are pointing to a
problem with Outlook 2007. Can you be of an assist in this problem,
something to do with 3rd party SMTP?

Fairly simple solution, change the SMTP server to Cox when you're using them
as your ISP. Most ISPs will not allow you to use an SMTP server they don't
own (an Anti Spam safeguard). You don't need to change the POP3 setting,
only the SMTP server setting. This article goes into more detail:

Having returned from my travels, and back home on our DSL connection, the
neen for making changes on the outgoing e-mail has no priorty. However, by
changing the SMTP address to a COX address did not work! Thanks for your
advise.
