I have a shared internet connection using W2k RRS NAT. I have a machine on
the local network i would like to be able to do netbios file transfers to
from time to time. I have forwarded port 137, 138, 139. I can't get it to
work. What am I missing? Will W2k even work with SMB packets?

Before anyone replies with how bad an idea it is to open SMB ports to the
public internet, I don't really care. My question is how do I make this
work. Any helpful advice would be appreciated

thanks.

You can't normally connect to a private-addressed machine behind a NAT
router from the Internet. NAT is a one-way translation. It connects from the
private side only.

To connect to a private machine, you need special mappings or port
forwarding in NAT, so that connections to the public IP of the NAT router
are transferred to the LAN machine.
