I don't recognize the term "Smart Wizard". What is it trying to get
you to do? What sort of messages does it display?

Unless someone else does recognize it, you'll need to give us more
information so that we can help you determine whether it's a part of
Windows that you can suppress, or some adware that you'll need to
remove.

Thank you Stan for your promp reply.
You asked for more info on the Wizard, well there is an icon on the toolbar,
and it keeps poping up every few minutes telling me it's removing unused
items. The window will open and it reads "Smart Wizard, Removed: Unknown
Devise" Then it reappears again saying "Removed: Microphone" In the top left
hand corner of the window there is the letter i in an information bubble.
It's very agravating and most of the time it just gets in the way. Thanks for
the help it's very appreciated.

That doesn't exactly sound like adware, but I'm pretty sure it's not
part of Windows.

The first thing is to right-click on the toolbar icon and see if
there's an option for "Preferences" or similar. If so, open the
preferences window and see if you can find a checked setting for "Run
automatically" or "Run when Windows starts" or similar. If so,
uncheck it, click OK, and reboot. If it's gone, you're done.

Next is to search Add/Remove Programs and if you see it there,
uninstall it.

If that fails, get the free Autoruns
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml
and unzip and run autoruns.exe. It will show you everything that
starts automatically, and you can find that "Smart Wizard". If you're
not 100% sure which entry/entries is/are the "Smart Wizard", right-
click on all likely suspects and pick "Google".

To turn off the unwanted entry/entries, you'll need to log in as
administrator and re-run Autoruns.

Please don't post upside down, by the way.

A: Maybe because some people are too annoyed by top-posting.
Q: Why do I not get an answer to my question(s)?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

I'll let you know what happens. About posting upside down, sorry about that
this is a first for me. Hope I got it right this time.

There's really nothing to turn off. When you start a reply, OE puts the
cursor at the top, assuming you will top post, but you can easily move it
wherever you want it.

Personally, I don't want the cursor alwys to be at the top or always at the
bottom. I want it to be immediately after the question I'm answering,. Since
OE can't know where I want it, almost wherever it puts it, I'm going to have
to move it , so I don't care much where it puts it.

Is that a serious question?

Use your mouse to highlight what you're trimming out, and press the
Del key. Then hit Enter twice and start typing your comments. Repeat
as needed.

Yes, it was a serious question - I have been using OE for newsgroups since I
beta tested W95 - some newsreaders do allow you to specify the format of the
posts.

If you install OE-QuoteFix
http://home.in.tum.de/~jain/software/oe-quotefix/downloads.php, you will
find it gives you an option as to whether to top or bottom post your
replies. I find this quite useful. Just add it to the QuickLaunch bar.
Launching OE from here will always make OE open with OE-QuoteFix. An
alternative is to add it to the startup, so OE opens in every session with
OE-QuoteFix.

So, yes it a serious question with a sensible answer.
