just installed a MS wireless optical mouse 2.0. works
great, but nowhere in the documentation can I find a
discussion of the function of the button on top of its
smart receiver. when I push the button the receiver's
lamp blinks.

i give up. what is the button for?

To connect to the mouse.
You press that button on the receiver, then you push the connect button on
the wireless product that you wish to link up to.

Thank you. So I never found anything about the connect
button in the documentation either and never seemed to
have to do that. Is this something that is important
only if you have more than 1 device speaking to the smart
receiver?

One other question - when I installed this product the
Intellimouse 5.0 automatically found my existing mouse
software and asked permission to uninstall it. However,
when I got everything installed and read the MS
documentation it said it is better to manually uninstall
the existing mouseware first. Well that is a catch 22,
since you don't get to that instruction until after you
have already done the new install.

But it raises the question - if I had done what they
said, that is to uninstall my existing mouse ware from
logitech before installing the new intellimouse software,
would I have been able to operate a mouse in order to
start windowns and navigate to the intellimouse product?

thanx again.
