smart client definition-AutoUpdate

Hello

one of the component required for smartclients is AutoUpdate facility,i
want to ask that is it necessary that a smartclient Application updates
itself?Outlook is considered smartclient application but it doesn`t
update itself(as far as i know) in terms of GUI/functionality

second question is that when we talk about auto Update,does it mean
updation in Assemblies(functionalities or the GUI itself(EXE) ?

Autoupdating may include the exe or dlls or both (plus optionally any other
files, data or otherwise).

Smart Clients can be desktop apps or smart device apps (in the context of
this newsgroup, compact framework apps).
