I am having a problem networking my 2 computers together. I hope this
is the right place to ask. Here's the problem

I have a cable modem, router, win2000 comp, and win98 comp.
Both computers have no problem getting online. The win2000 comp can
browse the 98 machine with no problems. But when I try to connect to
the 2000 machine using the 98 machine, I get a message box asking for
a password. I used my login password from my 2000 machine & my 98
machine, but that wasn't it. I don't have any other passwords on
either system. Both systems are on the same workgroup.
Both have TCP/IP and NetBEUI installed. I setup a user account on the
2000 machine for the 98 box, still nothing. Please Help!

Thank You

For accessing to the your Win2000 computer from your Win98 PC you must
logged in Win98 PC with same login and password that you are using on the
Win2000 PC

What about this one: i created home network a few months ago, too. And i
have both Win XP Pro. First comp is existing XP, second is brand new
installed XP. I connected the two, turned off simple file sharing (god
knows why, though...) and from second one i could brose first ones files,
while from first one i couldn't get to files from second one (but maybe it
was vice versa - i really don't remember anymore, but it doesn't matter) -
it keep asking for name and password. BUT i didn't have ANY passwords EVER
nor on first or second computer. I had to make c:\format on second one,
reinstall and keep simple file sharing turned on. Then it worked. And i did
have on one folder file sharing turned on and a printer, too.

Why is that?
