In the device listing in XP under system I have an unknown
device without a loaded driver (after I reloaded the OS to
a new hard drive following a crash on my Gateway Profile
4S). I don't know what it is (there were 3 devices
without drivers whe I used the disk that came with the
computer - the ethernet driver and the sound card driver
were also driverless, but I could find them on the Gateway
site).

It is listed as "SM Bus Controller". Can anyone tell me
what it is and where/how to find the driver?

Thanks,
Bob

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your computer
or motherboard and download the appropriate chipset driver.

If you have an Intel processor and chipset:

Install the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility
