Slower transitions

I need the slides in my Powerpoint presentation to fade from one to the next
slower than the "Slow" speed setting. I tried using a custom animation
called Fade which has five speeds to choose from, but this doesn't quite do
what I need it to. The custom fade animation requires two clicks to make the
image on the slide fade up and I can't crossfade from one slide to the next.

Are there any add ins that can help me put a slower fade time on my slides?

John:

There is just an image that I pasted into the slide. I did not click in one
of the text areas and then paste, I just clicked in the grey area surrounding
the slide and then did a ctrl-v.

It shouldn't take two clicks. Something strange is gong on there, I think.

But if you right-click the animation in the animation pane, you can choose
Timings. There you can type in the number of seconds for the duration of the
fade. You're not limited to the 5 settings...

If you right-click the animation and choose "show advanced timeline," you
can just click and drag the edge of the animation bar to extend its
duration.
