first i am not very IT literate so make no assumptions.
I have broadband internet via comcast and have noticed deminishment in
"speed" of connection. Comcast techs have come out checked teh lines and
modem and indicate everything in is spec. I have a sony vaio desktop
computer with 60MB and 528 ram , I do notice that drive C: of 15MD has
only 1.5MB availible while drive D: is completely empty and has 55MB
availible. If I move the comcast internet connection to drive D would that
increase response time and if so how do i move the comcast internet
connect from drive c to drive d in very basic steps ala the "IDIOT" series

thanks

First, I hope that you mean GB (gigabyte), not MB (megabyte). The
internet isn't connected to a specific drive. The software is
installed on a specific drive but (assuming that GB is correct) that
makes no difference. Have you scanned your PC for spyware or virus'?
They can cause LOTS of slowdown. Good Anti-spyware freeware is
Spybot-S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
or Ad-Aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

You should also have a firewall. You can check that one is turned on
by going to:
Start > Control Panel > Security Center

There should be nothing related to the Comcast service to "remove". You
do not need any special software to connect to the Internet with
Comcast broadband. However, this is a common problem on Vaios in that
they are configured with this very small partition for the system drive
and people run out of room. This can cause very serious problems for
the system (I've just worked on two Vaios with the "running out of
room" issue this past week).

You *must* immediately get more room on the C: drive. Move any data
files you can to the D: drive and/or back them up and get them off the
hard drive entirely. If you use iTunes or another music downloading
program, move its folder to the D: drive. Since you aren't
computer-savvy, you may want to enlist the aid of a professional.

Once you get the computer cleaned up and better organized, you may find
your speed issues go away entirely. You should also make sure the
computer is completely virus/malware-free and all normal system
maintenance has been done. But you *must* solve the "running out of
room" issue first.
