Hello,
I just bought a new computer with Vista Home Basic on it......can anyone
tell me why it's SO slow?
Getting around the internet is like having my old computer and it's full of
junk!!
Is Vista this slow and irritating or am I missing something?

Please help:)

Thankyou

Not with the information contained in your post, no I don't think anyone
can.

As a general rough guide, what spec is the computer? It's probably a low end
one if it's running Vista basic, I'd imagine. In what way does it seem slow
to you?

Well that's between you and whoever sold you the computer. Have you
considered uninstalling the junk? I presume you mean the "free" bundled
rubbish that comes on nearly every new Windows PC these days? Think about
what you're using and what you're not using, and uninstall the latter group.

I'm inclined towards it being slow and irritating but it shouldn't be all
*that* bad on a new computer that was actually properly designed to run
Vista.

I was talking to a tech at bestbuy and he said to keep as many shortcut icons
off the desktop and just use your favorite's to go to where you want to go. I
did this and
now my computer really sped up. Have you also used ccleaner to get rid of
the temp files or us the tools option in the toolbar and delete the temp
files?
Good luck
Darrin

More information on the specifications of the computer would help, plus what
RATING has Vista given it?

As an example here:

System one has a rating of 4.6, my second has a rating of 3.4 and my laptop
has a rating of 1.0.
Needless to say the laptop runs a lot slower than the desktops... but then I
only have 512MB in the laptop, and 1.5 and 2gb in the others.

Vista performance is inherently slow, Bren. It's the nature of the beast
unfortunately. You're not missing a thing. -William
