Slow Word document opening

After I installed Anti-spy I found the time to open any
Word document increased considerably. Uninstalling Anti-
spy returned the opening time of Word documents to its
normal value. I double checked by installing Anti-spy
again, and the opening time for Word documents again
increased considerably. Uninstalling Anti-spy again cured
the problem.
Anyone else seen this behavior?

This has been reported periodically--ditto with Excel. As I recall--this
happens when you double-click on a document? (As opposed to opening word,
then opening the doc?)

I don't have a fix--but would suggest either an update install, via Control
Panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change, update

or

uninstall, and delete the contents of the installation folder, then
reinstall.

(and really don't know if or why either of these might help, I'm afraid.)

This occurred when I double-clicked on the file to open
the Word document, there was some, but less delay when I
opened Word itself.
I use Works, not Excel, and have not noticed any effect on
the opening time of Works documents.

YES, but only in case *.DOC is opened by double-click,
launching WORD. In case, I open the same file from within
WORD, noc difference in speed.
I reported it already a month ago, no change until now.
BUT: In case, I completely disable Real Time Protection,
this effect disappears on my machine.
Same timing effect when opening file with Excel.
