slow Win2k Server file sharing

Hi,
I have a win2k sp3 file server running active directory
hosting access2002 database tables. Workstations are all
windows xp sp1 and office xp.When accessing the
database/tables from the server over the network, it takes
about 25-55 seconds to open the database.

If i share the tables on a winxp workstation and access
them across the network, it takes less than a second to
open.

If i restart the server, and then access the tables, it
will start off quick, but after about 20 minutes it will
slow down again.

Has anybody come across this before?

Does everything point to your serverip with a IPCONFIG /All from those XP's?
Put the nics of the XP's on anything but autosense.
