Hey all,

I'm having a bit of a problem. A bit ago, I had to do a re-install of
XP on my system. I couldn't log in, and just got a blue screen, so I
inserted the CD and told the install to repair the XP installation.
I've since gone about running Windows Update, so I'm at WinXP Pro SP1.
It's on a 802.11b connection using an Orinoco Gold card.

The issue is that I'm having a great deal of trouble web browsing,
something that I didn't have before. Pages with just straight HTML
(ie, http://www.windows-ir.com) come through fine in most cases.
Pages using Javascript (ie, http://mail.yahoo.com) fail to load at
all. I've run Ethereal on the box and found that the GET request
keeps being sent. However, the page just doesn't load.

I've tried installing Netscape 7.02 and Firefox...both have the same
problem.

I can't find any evidence of viruses or spyware. My Hosts file is
fine.

Thoughts?

sounds like scumware or malware/worms/trojans. repairing
will not do much good. untill you get rid of whatever it
is thats causeing the problem.
