Slow to load screen from Alt-Tab?

Our website application, which has lots of javascript & other goodies, has
this weird behaviour where when you ALT-TAB back to the browser running our
website, it shows a GREY screen for a second or so & then displays our
website. Why am I given the impression that perhaps IE is loading itself
into memory or swaping into memory before it displays the website to the
user??

Is anyone else familiar with a "grey screen" just before IE displays the
website?

Sorry to be so vague in my description but it has been hard hunting this
down on the internet.

Hi Darrell,

I think you are referring to screen refreshing on task switching OR web page
refreshing on navigating back. Both processes depend upon your video driver
to give a smooth transition between the screen updates.

On my XP pro machine with an Intel Media Accelerator I do not observe this
behavior. I note though that I have settings for the video accelerator to
set the refresh rate of the screen. I would suspect that this may affect the
smooth transitions between screen updates.

Regards.

Unfortunately this is happening for everyone in the office & our customers as
well, so I do not believe it is video card or monitor related, or even OS for
that matter. I think it is specific to IE.
