I am trying to copy a set of data 33,000 rows X 9 columns. This data i
the result of several VLOOKUPs and searches for unique entries. I
takes about an 1:15 to run all the computations. Once done, I need t
copy and paste special (values) into a new workbook. In my previou
version of Excel this took about 2 seconds. In my curren
configuration it takes about 5 minutes before the hourglass turns bac
to an arrow allowing me to past the data. Is there some genera
setting I need to change? Is this a problem with my clipboard

It all depends on how much of an Excel upgrade you did. Newe
software tends to eat up more resources in an effort to provid
error/redundancy protection and also to look pretty

Imagine how fast Windows 3.11 would boot up on a new P4 with a gig o
ram

Another thing to do is check your processes running when you'r
copying. Start the copy and use ctrl-shift-esc or right click o
taskbar to bring up the task manager, and go to processes and sort b
CPU. See what's eating up all your resources. If it's EXCEL runnin
at 90%+ then that's the culprit, if it's some other process
investigate and perhaps kill it

If your pagefile is very large, then your system is not using memor
in a very efficient way and this could also be the problem. Tr
rebooting and without running anything else, start up Excel and tr
the copy command again and see how quickly it goes

If you have a ton of processes running in the background (they usuall
start up when you start your computer) get rid of some and try again

Good luck
