I am currently running Windows 2000 Pro with SP3 and all
the updates, except SP4 cause I don't want to install it.

My problem is whenever I shut down it sits there and says
its saving my personal settings...for about 2-3 min.

Any idea why this is happening, and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance....

Barry

Possibly this:

Windows takes a long time to shut down -- the message box that says
"Saving your settings" persists for a minute or longer.

The application event log contains an entry with text like this:

Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 02/29/2004
Time: 15:57:36
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: Marvin
