slow running XP home.

Recently my computer began running slow, especially with
graphic intense games. Did not have this problem a few
weeks ago. When it does this, I look in task manager at
the processes and find a program called "System32.exe"
running at 95-99 in the CPU column. I can end this process
and my computer works fine. I can't find this program
anywhere on my computer. Does anyone have a clue to what
this is?
