I have one workstation on the network that suddenly just
crawls along. Some applications won't even open. I have:
1. Run 2 different virus programs
2. Cleaned temp/recent files
3. Cleared temp internet files
4. Defrag
5. Disk Clean
6. Deleted/reloaded client (Novell)
7. Changed to new port.
I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced this, and
what did you do to rectify?

TIA

try going to the device manager. In there there are a few
things to do if you are running W2K WS.

First: go to the ATA/IDE controllers. open this up and go
to the first IDE controller and open it. go to the
advanced settings tab and on the transfer mode set BOTH
devices to DMA if available. do the same for the second
IDE controller. Then go to the network adapter icon in the
device manager and open it. go to the advanced tab and set
the tab for 10 mbs transfer mode. Last but not least turn
on the indexing service in the services and set it to
start automatically.... that should speed up the PC a
lot... if not then you have maybe a dup ip addy or there
is a serious hardware issue..
