Slow running computer.

I recently installed DSL, and ever since then I have a had several problems. First of all, after using my computer for about 15-20 minutes programs seem to lock up and are not responding. The CPU also always seems to be thinking, even when I am doing nothing with no programs open. Also, every once in awhile, I get a blue screen that pops up saying there is an error and the computer is shutting down. At the bottome of the screen it states that it is beginning dump of physical memory. Can anyone help me?
 
Are you running antivirus and spyware-adware programs? If not you need to. You may have a virus or at least a load of spyware-adware programs taking over. It does not take but a minute to have a load of spyware in your machine.....
 
Are you running their dsl software or the XP PPPOE? Jym
