I've seen this problem described elsewhere, but the suggestions offered
didn't help.

When I type a URL in the address bar in IE6 (e.g. www.microsoft.com) it
takes upwards of 60-90 sec before it responds. However, if I type
"microsoft" into google and then click om the microsoft.com link...it
responds immediately - no problem.

The history drop-down box is also slow, as is opening My Computer.

Lastly, the PC bootup as a whole seems to be running much slower...not usre
if this is related to the above or not.

Running XP-home, SP1, P-4, 256MB. Connecting to internet via a wireless
network on a home DSL line, using an HP2550 wireless printer (this also may
have some connection to the above problem...I've seen this printer mentioned
in other posts).

THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER!!

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If nothing there helps, please post back to this thread.

Interestingly...I realized my wireless printer had been unplugged. When I
plugged it in, and turned it on (standby mode), the problem in IE went away.

Does this issue have something to do with network connections? The printer
is running through our home 3com wireless router. I'm not a techie...but
this is the only thing that changed from IE 'working' and 'not working'...

I've noticed the same problem since I installed a wireless printer.
Does anyone know the fix to this?
