I'm getting very slow response time when viewing pages in
MSN Explorer and Internet Explorer. Windows XP programs
run norma, but when connected to the internet browsing
and downloading takes forever now. It started slowing
down about 4 weeks ago and I have not been able to
isolate the problem. Any Suggestions?

I'm desperately seeking answers to a similar question on
slow response time with keystrokes in info boxes and going
to different pages on info-blank-filled pages. I'm still
in the dark. I've spent much time on the phone with
Microsoft's fee-based representatives. (However, typing on
this message board moves along just fine.)

About a week ago following an download of the latest IE6
configuration as well as Norton AntiVirus definitions, I
began experiencing glacially slow speed at certain sites
when typing in data in blanks for purchases or attempting
to navigate web pages with info blanks on them.
Microsoft's Support site was one of the worst for crawling.

All other browsing is normal. I have DSL at 800KPS and
most other browsing is a snap. No answers seem available.

Looking for suggestions.

Steve

Someone earlier suggested switching off your autocomplete
in the internet options window. Clear your history & temp
internet folders. Also to download Ad-aware to check for
spyware, which also uses your resources.
I have done both of these and still get slow text boxes,
also poor scrolling.

Mine happened after using windows 98 update. My ie6 was
updated as well as directx and a few other updates (i
hadn't updated for a while - so filled my boots!) since
then i'm in go slow city.
I've sinced downloaded netscape 7.1 with no problems and
am running back at full speed again, so definitely a
problem with ie6 or directx updates.

Steve, your question has nothing to do with the original poster's
problem of slow-loading pages, and this is likely to prevent him from
getting a useful answer. Would suggest that you repost with a more
specific subject line like slow keystroke response time. Also, please
identify your OS (XP, Win98, etc.).
