Can somebody please give me a clue as to what might be
causing this problem? We are experiencing an inordinate
response time when we try to bring up a file or brows a
directory on our network. We are running Windows 2000
Adv. Server and Windows 2000 workstations all of which
have Service Pack 4 applied. This problem seems to occur
with files or directories that have not been loaded or
browsed for an hour or so. I really can't nail down a
period of time that it takes before these symptoms occur
but I can tell you that if you load a file, close it and
then reopen it; the load time is greatly reduced. It's as
if the system forgets where the files are and has to look
for it again if you don't use them for a while. Is this
a rights issue? A DNS issue? Something I need to change
in Active Directory?
Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
