On my Church Secretary's PC (HP 800 MHz with 512 MB PC 133 SDRAM)
............

When I select "File>Print" from any Office 2003 Pro (Win XP version),
the Print window does not appear for at least 45 seconds and most time
1-1.5 minutes. The printer is networked through a 4-port Linksys
Switch/Router. I can disconnect everything on the network expect this
one PC and printer and the problem persists.

The strange part is, my other XP computer on the same network, running
the same version of XP and Office (Physically loaded from the same CD
license set ), with identical print drivers does not experience this
problem.......neither does my ME machine with Office 98.

Connecting this PC to the parallel port alleviates the problem,
however, due to space constraints (office design) I cannot leave the PC
connected in this fashion.

I have changed NICs and reloaded Office, XP, and the drivers as well as
changed network switch ports, ethernet cables, etc. Even physically
moved the PC to another wall drop.... no change. I have dropped DHCP
and refreshed IP ADX but no change.

When the windiow finally arrives, everything works just fine.

Neither Microsoft nor Gestetener have an answer for this.

Thanks in advance,

Tobee

You are not alone. I have an identical experience with a Win98 laptop,
running Office97 and printing to a shared network printer. My
router/switch is also a Linksys. As you say, it's just time. It all
works OK in the end!
