Slow report preview

I have a report based on a query as the record source. The query opens in less than a second by itself. When trying to Preview the report, it takes about 2 to 2½ minutes. What's up with this?

It's seems to have gotten worse lately as more fields have been added to the query.

Have you got lots of formatting / fonts / graphics in your
report? Another report "slower" is the "Page 1 of 500"
type of page numbering (the report needs to format to the
end to determine how many pages there are). Something else
to keep in mind is that the report record sorting is
determined by the grouping levels you have (although I
doubt this should slow you excessively). Failing that copy
your report as a test_report and start deleting elements
from it to determine what is slowing you down.

I'll try the delete trick to see if it shows me something. It has been quite fast until recently when we modified the query to add a couple more fields.
