Slow Processor

I have a AMD Athlon 2600 but my system tells me its a
1300. I calle d my £1 a min support line and after £20
worth the still thought the issue was with my AMD Athlon
Hard Drive!!!
They assure me it is running at 2600 speed even if it says
1300 everywhere they looked and they can explain it. Any
where I can change this or verify the processor spped
without opnening it up?
 
The AMD 2600+ runs at 2.083Ghz, I would have thought the AMD utility from
www.amd.com called amdcpuid or cpuinfo should give you the info you need. I
must admit 1300 doesn't sound right.
