My five year old laptop has suddenly decided it does not like me restarting
or shutting it down. Getting to that final box takes longer than usual. Start
to shutdown is fine, it's the final link that's slow.

Have cleaned, checked for viruses etc.

Other programmes are fine, considering its age etc. Getting to other
computer on the network is also a little slow but that seems obvious. This is
on the same computer.

Toshiba checked the laptop a few weeks ago, changed something (hardware),
and it's become obvious to me since then. They recommend I reinstall all
software.

I'd like to know why this faut might be happening.

Can anyone enlighten me? It's a back-up computer now but still....
