Slow printing problem

I have a Windows XP Professional system with 1 gig of
RAM. The HP PhotoJet printer used to print immediately
after you sent the print job to it. Now it takes 5
minutes before it prints. Any ideas?

Is the printer connected to the LPT port or to USB?

If you open Task Manager when you start printing is spoolsv.exe or any other
process taking much CPU time?
