I have a host XP Pro with a W98 client connected via a USB-USB connection. I
had to reinstall the network card and connections recently. I set up the
printer, which is connected to the W98 machine, using the "printers and
faxes" add printer wizard. It found the printer on the Workgroup and
installed. The printer works after some time, but it takes several moments
for the printing to start. I know that there are hundreds of switches to
activate etc. in XP and am wondering if someone can suggest a way of finding
which of the many options I should be looking at to correct this problem
Thanks,

Bob

Try this on the XP machine.. at the run command on the
start menu type....

net use lpt1 \\computername\printername /persistent:yes

Thanks, Phil. I'll try that. I am having the same "slowdown" problem with
accessing shared folders on the client. In Windows explorer on the host the
shared files are visible but like the printing it takes several minutes for
the folders/files to open.
