I have a system that should be fast buy it is not. It's a P4, 3Gh,with 2GBof
memory. Are my memory settings wrong? I just got rid of Norton AntiVirus
2006, through Add/Rem programs.Did I get a clean uninslall? Please Help!!!

I have the same specs on my system and it is fast!

But, this is a very complicated topic. Here's some steps to help speed
things up:
1) Run a complete scan of your system for viruses and spyware.
2) Make sure that you have all of the Windows Updates
3) Go to Start...Control Panel...System...Advanced...Performance Settings
button - and set the system for best performance.
4) Use the DiskCleanup tool
5) Use the Disk Defragmenter tool
6) Eliminate unneeded startup programs by using MSCONFIG.EXE
7) Disable unneeded services using the Services Applet in Administrative
Tools (Don't do this without a lot of reading - it can hose your system)
8) Audit your hardware to remove any bottlenecks that may exists.
9) Research perfomance tweaks on the internet - and then be very careful
when applying them.

Most of these changes won't bring about a big change in performance by
themselves - but the combination of all of them will surely make a noticeable
difference.

Are you nunning out of HDD space/ how long since you ran a cleanup and
defragmented it? Download CCleaner or run the disk cleanup utility,
chkdsk and run the disk defragmenter. Also update your drivers. See if
missed out anything in the links below
