Since I upgraded from ME to XP the performance of my
computer is atrocious (SLOW!!!!). Just starting up
Explorer or Word takes minutes. My system runs 128MB with
a 800 MHz processor. I don't believe there is a swap file
problem. What else could it be?? Please give me any
suggestions you might have, I'm desperate!!

An 800 MHz processor and 128 MB of RAM are your problems. If your computer
is that old you probably have an underpowered video subsystem as well.

You need more than 128mb of ram.. Put at "least" 128mb
more in, but I recommend putting in another 256.

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem as are others (Courtney, Dick
Shrewsbury, Marie, Allen, ogi). Look closer. Do you
have our problem:

Word does not take minutes to start in the typical
Windows XP machine! But it would if you have our
problem. Our systems recently began to slow to a crawl.
We also have the CPU in the 90% range when it is slow.

Dick, Allen, and I all get temporarily cured by a restart
of the computer. Do you?

Look for posts with subjects of
Slow computer
High CPU usage

Someone will figure it out someday! I hope the fix is
found soon!
