Slow performance over WAN

Hi!

A company with 12 users connect over Internet using ADSL and VPN to my
Citrix farm.

They have 512 kbit/s up and 2048 kbit/s down (asymmetric).

I have a 512 kbit (up/down) leased line to the Internet.

They complain about slow application performance. I have checked the
servers and it has to be the WAN connection. Is it the assymetric
connection that is the problem or do I have to get a faster line on my
end?

Could you get me some advice on this issue, please?

Kjell,

Whilst I've been researching my problem I've found some articles on the MTU
size for ADSL connections being different than WAN/LAN, maybe worth looking
into. From memory MTU for WAN/LAN is 1500 whereas ADSL has an MTU of 1492.

Hope it might help.

Tonius, do you have any references to the articles you mention? I have a
similar problem at one location. So far I compared ping response times (via
vpn) between firewalls but the average time came out the same as another
office who are happy with speed. (I used Perfping from
http://software.ccschmidt.de).

Rgds,
Jack
