Slow Outlook XP response with Exchange 5.5

We are running a multi-site Exchange 5.5 environment with Windows 2000
on the desktops running Outlook XP (2002). The IM components are
turned off, network is switched 10 & 100 with no evident performance
issues.

Previously, our desktops were Win98 with Outlook 2000.

Since migrating to Outlook XP, out users are experiencing significant
delays communicating with the Exchange servers. We have tried the
posted suggestions of reviewing the RPC order, checking the MS
Messenger, etc. to no avail.

The servers are patched and current, as are the desktops.

We are quite up-to-date and have SP4 on the desktops and all service
packs on the server. We recently upgraded the OS on teh server from
NT4 to Win2K and have seen little improvement, if any.

You upgraded the OS of the server? Try recreating the mail profile at the
client. Also monitor the Exchange server to see if it needs more memory or
if there are any other bottlenecks. Also check the Event Viewer of the
server if it has any errors.
