Slow or No Launch

I'm using Explorer 6.0 with Windows XP. For the last month or so when I
launch, it launches slowly or not at all (or at least longer than my
patience). If I close and relaunch it usually then launches at normal speed.
Any idea why and how to correct? I don't recall updating any software
coincident with this, but I can't rule it out either.

Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and look for java update 6, if there,
uninstall the update 6 because that cause's it to load slow.

I find nothing recognizably java in Add/Remove programs. Is there a specific
file I can search for?

Could this have anything to do with McAfee or maybe an Adobe upgrade?

If you have Sun Java installed, the should be an entry in Add/Remove
Programs with a name something like J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5.
It's the update number that's of interest here. The normal install
location is \Program Files\Java, so that's something else you can check
for. Another way to tell is by the presence of a Java entry in the
Control Panel.
