I have XP home on my system and when I try to go into any
of the user accounts it is taking about 4 minutes to
open. Once open all other programmes open and run as
normal. Systems appears to boot up OK and am gettig no
error messages, including when accounts do finally open.

Have checked disk space and still have about 48% free
space still, this has only started to happen today.

Any ideas ??????????

it might be that you've accumulated a lot of "junk"ware when you surf the
net. these spywares won't bother telling you that they've installed
themselves and even the best anti-virus programs won't detect them. if this
is the case, you can try this step:
open up start>run
type in the word msconfig and hit enter
select the one that says "selective startup"
uncheck the option under it that says "load startup items"
hit apply/ok then reboot your pc

if problems still recur, there might be a hardware problem in your computer,
or one of your external devices was not attached properly. btw, you can also
try calling up the technical support for your computer, they might be able
to suggest something that could help.

hope this helps
