Hello,

I'm having the same problem that was stated in the last 2
messages. It takes close to a minute to open a file in
Word or Excel. In the lower left of the
window, "requesting virus scan" pops up. I've never had
this problem in the past. It began today, 1-8-04.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem of slow opening Excel
and Word with the "requesting virus scan" note and it
started 1-7-04. Is it an excel or microsoft office
problem? Thanks for any help.

Joe

If you have files that load automatically when Excel/Word starts, your
VirusScan checks each one of them as they load. It sometimes takes me a good
10 seconds to load Excel when I have all of my extra utility addins loading
(Rob Bovey's Code Cleaner, My Utilitiy Addin, etc.

I would suspect NAV. Disable it and see if things return to normal

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your suggestion!

Unfortunately, I have no idea what NAV. is or how to disable it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again,

Dale

Norton Anti-virus. By now they may have updated their server certificate
anyhow and the problem may have gone away

Nick,

You are absolutely correct! All my files open very fast (like they use to).
Apparently it was a Norton Anti-Virus problem.

Thanks for your info. Much appreciated!
