Slow opening DB

My DB has become noticeably slower when opening or changing to design
window.
seems to be mostly one tabbed form .
not on a network - however FE.BE are on different drives on my PC -
eventually will go on a network.
This seems to correspond with recently splitting the DB - although, i've
also added some forms, VBA and DLookups.
any suggestions?
I've compacted- doesn't seem to help -
so what can i do to speed it up? or to ask another way, what are the most
common causes for this problem,what events, etc.

Try decompiling first then compact again. You can decompile by adding
the command line argument /decompile in the command line in the
shortcut's properties.
