Hi,

The network that i've setup is slow.

I've discovered that it maybe to do with the protocols. The protocols on
both the server and the client are different. One is ipx and the other is
tcp/ip.

Which should i be using?

What boxes should be ticked in network protocol on the client and the
server? Such as "qos packet scheduler" etc...

Do these options differ from server to client?

IPX is / was the older protocol used for Novell servers. Do you have an old
Novell Netware server?

QoS Scheduler is for IP traffic "shaping" and you can "uncheck" this if your
router is not using this feature.

Hey,

All win xp pro. Currently just using 2 pc's. The 2 pc's are connected to a
router and are both wired networks.

The server:
2.8 celeron
512mb ram
120GB HD

The main pc:
dual core pentium d
320GB HD
2g ram

I was right it was to do with the protocols!!!

There was actually a missing protocol on the server called - Link-layer
topology discovery responder. The speeds have shot up, from 100mb in 5mins to
1gb in 5 mins.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
