Hi all,
I have discovered a strange problem. I have a windows server 2003 machine
running on my LAN, and 2 Windows XP machines. I have noticed that the 2
windows XP machines can copy files back and forth to each other many times
faster than either windows XP machine can copy to & from the windows server
2003 machine. The 3 machines are identical hardware. 2.4Ghz P4's. 512MB
DDR RAM. All 3 machines have Intel Pro 1000 MT gigabit NIC's, and are
connected to a D-link Gigabit Ethernet switch via short cat5 cables.
All the hardware should not be an issue. It has got to be a windows server
2003 issue, and I'll explain why. The server can dual boot between Windows
server 2003 and windows XP. When it is booted to XP, it works just as fast
as the other 2 XP machines.
Anybody faced this problem before and know how to correct it?
Thanks for any help,
Nate
